What is in aloe?

• Valuable gel-polysaccharides (long-chain sugars), which provide soluble dietary fibre
• Simple sugars, including several of the highly-acclaimed “glyconutrients” which are vital for good health
• vitamins, proteins, and a large variety of minerals and trace elements, with a high calcium content.

What is aloe juice?
A pure extract from the Aloe Ferox plant, processed to provide a juice that harnesses the abundance of health-giving properties of the plant.

What does it taste like?
The juice has a bland to slightly sour taste – almost like lemon.

Is the juice bitter?
No, the aloe bitters are all removed during the processing.

What does the juice do for you?
Aloe gel applied to the skin relieves many skin irritations, soothes burns and moisturizes the skin. Taken internally, the aloe gel has a similar effect on the mucous membranes lining the digestive tract. Research dating back some fifteen years or more both in South Africa and in the USA provides substantial anecdotal evidence that drinking a daily glass of aloe juice not only relieves heartburn, indigestion, symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, colitis and various stomach disorders, but also assists in boosting the immune system.

Will it help my stomach ulcer?
The soothing effect of aloe polysaccharide gel has been known to give significant relief to ulcer sufferers.

Can diabetics drink the juice?
The plain Aloe Drink is particularly effective for diabetics. It consists mainly of complex polysaccharides which constitutes a source of soluble dietary fibre. The beneficial role of soluble fibre is that it increases the viscosity of ingested food during the early digestive phase in the stomach and upper intestine. This action slows down the digestion of starch and other non-fibre carbohydrates, as well as the absorption of the resultant glucose, and therefore the production of insulin is moderated.

Is the juice safe for babies and children?
Yes, it is perfectly safe for this group. Babies can be given 1-2 teaspoonfuls per day to assist in building their immune system, or to help relieve the symptoms of colic.

Are there any adverse effects from drinking the juice?
None

How much should I take?
The recommended intake is between 100 – 150ml daily. For relief of any specific symptoms, lesser amounts can be taken at more frequent intervals.

How long before I feel the benefit?
In the case of indigestion or heartburn, the relief is almost immediate. Other symptoms may linger for an hour or two, depending on the cause. Maximum benefit is gained from drinking the juice on a regular daily basis.

What is the shelf life ?
One year from date of production. Totally Wild’s juices do not contain any added preservatives, therefore open cartons must be kept in a refrigerator, where they can be kept for 3-4 days.

Does it have the same benefits if eaten in jams and relishes?
In food products, you will still benefit from the natural aloe sugars, minerals, fibre etc. Due to the aloe’s high natural sugar content, Totally Wild’s jams contain approximately HALF the amount of cane sugar normally used in traditional jams and preserves. However, the soothing effect on the digestive tract is only derived from the plain Aloe Drink.
